Book Review: The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa

Title: The Iron Queen Author: Julie Kagawa Date of Publication: 25th January 2011 Pages: 358 Source: Bought Series: The Iron Fey #3 Synopsis from Goodreads.com: My name is Meghan Chase. I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into the core of conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it. This time, there will be no turning back. My Thoughts: Wow, what an awesome ending to an awesome series. I cannot recommend this series enough. If you haven't read it, you should. Buy it, borrow it, do whatever you can to read it. Don't illegally download or steal it though. That's naughty. Anyway, back to the review. I won't say too much about the plot, as I don't want to give ...

Book Blogger Hop #14 and Follow Friday #9

What book are you most looking forward to seeing published in 2011? Why are you anticipating that book? My answer: Well, I was really looking forward to The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa, because that series is awesome, and I couldn't wait to read it, but seeing as that has already been published, now I'm probably most anticipating Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare. I absolutely loved Clockwork Angel, so hopefully Clockwork Prince will be just as good, maybe even better! Cannot wait. =]  What is/was your favourite subject in school? My answer: I absolutely love Textiles. It's awesome. We're doing a project on shoes at the moment, and it's great. We're designing shoes, and we had to make one of our designs out of paper and masking tape, and let me tell you, making a heel out of paper and masking tape is not easy. But I managed to do it. I also really like History, I love finding about what happened in the past. I like most subjects, but I really don't lik...

My Thoughts: I love YA Dystopian novels. I haven't read that many, only The Hunger Games and The Forest of Hands and Teeth series, but those two were awesome, so once I heard about this, I was so excited to read it. I seem to have lots of trouble finding YA Dystopian novels so any suggestions, leave them in the comments! Anyway, this was definitely a welcome addition, and I am s...

Teaser Tuesday #11: Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder

I haven't done one of these posts for ages... Since before Christmas I think. I just forgot :L Anyway, this week my teaser is from Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder. It's a YA Dystopian novel, about a girl called Trella who is a scrub in a place called Inside, and she's trying to find out if there is such a place called Outside. I haven't read much of it, but it seems really good so far, so if you like YA Dystopian novels, you should definitely try it! 'My head cleared. He seemed to be in no hurry to call for help, probably didn't even know he should be reporting me. I wasn't taking any more chances; I climbed onto the couch, trying to reach the air duct. It was another meter beyond my grasp. The vent was in the middle of the ceiling, and I couldn't use the rivets to scale the side wall.' - page 44 What book is your teaser from? But perhaps they contain the history of a past world...If what the tapes say are true, it means that everything we think we know is a lie. And if everything we know is a lie does that mean that we are, too? My Thoughts: Wow. This was such a good book. I devoured it, and read it all in one sitting. I couldn't stop. From the very first page, I was hooked. By the second chapter or so, there was no way I was putting it down soon. I didn't expect to read it all though. What did I love so much about it? I'm not really sure. It's probably one of the only sci-fi books I've read, so that for me was appealing becau...

Meme Idea

So, I have an idea about a meme. And I'd like your opinion, on whether you'd take part, or if you think it's a good idea, you know, all that stuff. The Idea:  It would be called SAMPLE SATURDAY, and you have to read a sample of a book, which can be found online (or if you have a Kindle/Kindle App, the first few chapters can be downloaded onto that for free) and then, on Saturday, you review it on your blog, and say whether or not the sample grabbed you, and if you would read the rest of the book, or anything else you'd like to say about it. Characters, plot line, etc. The sample would only have to be a chapter or to, or, if you wanted to, you could read a little more.  Do you like the idea? Fill in the form (Link Below), saying what you think, that would be great. If you don't like it, or have something you think could improve it, I really don't mind, say what you think! And, one last thing, is there a meme already that's like this? Thanks so much! =]  F...

Book Blogger Hop #13 and Follow Friday #8

Have you all had a good week? Mine's been OK, just getting back into the routine of school... Fun. Anyway, here's my Blog Hop and Follow Friday =] Why do you read the genre you read? What draws you to it?  My answer: I read YA Paranormal mostly, and I'm not sure why... I guess, it's just that I like getting lost in a world that would never happen, and I especially love finding out about all of the weird and wonderful creatures authors have come up with. I also like reading about things that would never happen to me, because people fascinate me. I'm not really sure... this is a hard question! Do you sort of understand what I mean? I like that when I'm reading I'll have no idea what's going to happen, and it keeps me reading into the night because I need to know what happens, and I think a lot of YA paranormal books have that suspense... And of course, there are all the love interests... But we won't go there :L  What makes up your non-human fami...

She’s content on her side of the Barrier, happy to let her friends dream of the Dark City up the coast while she watches from the top of her lighthouse. But there are threats the Barrier cannot hold back. Threats like the secrets Gabry’s mother thought she left behind when she escaped from the Sisterhood and the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Book of the Week #15: The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan

Cover Revealed: Passion by Lauren Kate

So, I know this is a bit late, but I only just found it... And I think it's gorgeous! It's the cover for Passion, the third book in Lauren Kate's Fallen series, and isn't it beautiful? I still think I prefer the eery creepiness of Torment, the second book in the series, but I still think this is beautiful. What do you think?

Book Blogger Hop #12 and Follow Friday #7

It's the first week of 2011, and the Book Blogger Hop and Follow Friday are back! The first Hop of the New Year has begun =] Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy For Books. What book influenced or changed your life? How did it influence/change you? My answer: Well, no book has really changed my life... I suppose, and I'm not shamed to say it, that Twilight by Stephenie Meyer sort of influenced my life, because when I first read it, it inspired me to read more, and because I read Twilight, I've discovered so many more great books, full of awesome characters and exciting plots. It's not that I didn't read before that, because I did, but not as much. So, in that way, Twilight influenced me, but didn't really change my life... But then again, if I hadn't read it, I wouldn't have made this blog, and wouldn't have met all you awesome people out there! So I'm glad I did. =] Follow Friday is hosted by ParaJunkee at ParaJunkee's View...

Book Review: Bitter Frost by Kailin Gow

Title: Bitter Frost Author: Kailin Gow Date of Publication: June 1st 2010 Pages: 235 Source: Bought Synopsis from Goodreads.com: All her life, Breena had always dreamed about fairies as though she lived among them...beautiful fairies living among mortals and living in Feyland. In her dreams, he was always there the breathtakingly handsome but dangerous Winter Prince, Kian, who is her intended. When Breena turns sixteen, she begins seeing fairies and other creatures mortals don t see. Her best friend Logan, suddenly acts very protective. Then she sees Kian, who seems intent on finding her and carrying her off to Feyland. That's fine and all, but for the fact that humans rarely survive a trip to Feyland, a kiss from a fairy generally means death to the human unless that human has fairy blood in them or is very strong, and although Kian seemed to be her intended, he seems to hate her and wants her dead. My Thoughts I was really excited to read this book, for many reason...

There are a lot of releases this month that I'm really looking forward to, and I've listed them below. If there are any books coming out in January* that you think I should add, then feel free to comment below! *These releases are all UK releases, as I live in the UK, so these are the dates I'm waiting for. I can barely keep up with the releases in the UK, so trying to add in the US dates too would be far too much work for little old me.
