Book Review: Forsaken by Jana Oliver

My Thoughts:
Forsaken is an amazing debut novel. It kept me hooked from the first to the last page, and I couldn't stop reading, or thinking about it when I wasn't. It was awesome.

I love Riley. On the back, it says she is 'kicking hell's ass one demon at a time' and she is definitely one kick-ass demon trapper. She's confident, stubborn and determined. She'll do whatever it takes to keep those she loves safe and alive, and she even sits vigil every night to make sure her loved one's body doesn't get reanimated by a nasty summoner. She's a believable teenage character, and you can't help but love her.

The plot is very well thought out and extremely well written. At the beginning of the book you get thrown straight into the action, yet I found it easy to understand the world that Riley lives in, and wasn't confused at all. It takes place in the near future, in 2018, so, while it's not far away, only 7 years, it shows how quickly the world can spiral out of control. There are so many small details to the plot that tie the whole story together brilliantly, everything from how precious metal is, to the batch and date numbers on Holy Water bottles, and the different levels of demons depending on how evil they are. The world is so real to read about, it's almost as if the author has lived there, because of how detailed and precise everything is. It's really very good.

Overall, Forsaken is a completely unique, clever, and incredible debut novel, and I cannot wait until Forbidden is released in August, as I'm sure it will be awesome too. I recommend that you go and buy a copy of this as soon as you can, as it is awesome, and you'll love it!
