Book Blogger Hop #5

It's time for the Book Blogger Hop again!! Yay. Very sorry, but I seem to have forgotten to post this on Friday... And yesterday. Oh well. It's hosted by Jennifer at Crazy for Books , and gives you a chance to have a look at all the amazing book blogs there are out there! What is the one bookish thing you would love to have, no matter the cost? My answer: Hmm... That's hard. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I would have said a Kindle, but seeing as I have one, that would be silly... I'd really like a really comfortable reading chair, or a huge beanbag that I could sit in, on my own, with no TVs or computers to distract me...

Book of the Week #6: Beautiful Creatures - Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Every week, I will post a book of the week. I think you should read it. It might be new, it might be really old. It doesn't matter. It will just be a book, that I have read, and think you should read. =] This week, the Book of the Week is... BEAUTIFUL CREATURES by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl Title: Beautiful Creatures Author: Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl Publication Date: February 2010 When I Read It: May 2010 Synopsis: In Ethan Wate's hometown there lies the darkest of secrets... There is a girl. Slowly, she pulled the hood from her head... Green eyes, black hair. Lena Duchannes. There is a curse. On the sixteenth moon, of the sixteenth year, the book will take what it's been promised. And no one can stop it. In the end there is a grave. Lena and Ethan become bound together by a deep, powerful love. But Lena is cursed, and, on her sixteenth birthday, her fate will be decided. Ethan never even saw it coming . - From the back of the book. Reco

Book Review: Misguided Angel - Melissa de la Cruz

Schuyler Van Alen is just getting used to her life as a vampire when her world is shattered. Now, forced to flee New York with the love of her life, Schuyler believes that she is choosing her own destiny. But when the love is promised to another, the fates are rarely kind; breaking vampire lore will put both their lives at risk. Destiny will not let Schuyler go. Destiny has other ideas in mind. As Schuyler is led to a terrifying crossroads she must make a decision that will determine not only her future but that of all vampires. - From the back of the book. Misguided Angel is the 5th book in the Blue Bloods series by Melissa de la Cruz (not counting Keys to the Repository ). It carries on the stories of Schuyler and Jack, and Mimi and Oliver. Yes, you read that right, Mimi and Oliver. First, I'd just like to say that the synopsis above that came from the back of my book, is not a very good summary of the book. Whether the American version is different or not, it doesn't s

Book Review: Beautiful Darkness - Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

One night in the rain, Ethan Wate opened his eyes and fell in love with Lena Duchannes. His life would never be the same. Lena is a Caster and her family is locked in a supernatural civil war. On her sixteenth birthday Lena made a terrifying choice, which now haunts her day and night. And as her seventeenth birthday approaches Lena and Ethan face even greater danger. A Caster and a mortal can never truly be together.  Every kiss is a curse. Ethan's next heartbeat could be his last. It is their curse now... - From the back of the book. Beautiful Darkness is the second book in the Beautiful Creatures series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. It's completely different to all other books, and I love it. The world that Garcia and Stohl have created is one that I absolutely love to live in. It's unpredictable, incredible, and nothing like any other fantasy world I have ever read about. The characters, the setting, it's all just amazing. The detail, and the way it pl

In My Mailbox #2

I decided I was only going to do IMM every two weeks, because I don't get that many books, so it would be kind of pointless, so I'll do it every two or 3 weeks. Unless I get lots in one week... That was for my birthday, and I bought Firelight to go on it. What have you got this week?

Book Review: Crescendo - Becca Fitzpatrick

Nora Grey's life is still far from perfect. Surviving an attempt on her life wasn't pleasant, but at least she got a guardian angel out of it: a mysterious, magnetic, gorgeous guardian angel. But, despite his role in her life, Patch has been acting anything but angelic. He's more elusive than ever and, even worse, he's started spending time with Nora's arch-enemy, Marcie Millar. Nora would have hardly noticed Scott Parnell, an old family friend who has moved back to town, if Patch hadn't been acting so distant. Even with Scott's totally infuriating attitude Nora finds herself drawn to him - despite her lingering feeling that he's hiding something. Haunted by images of her murdered father, and questioning whether her Nephilim bloodline has anything to do with his death, Nora puts herself in increasingly dangerous situations as she searches for answers. But maybe some things are better left buried, because the truth could destroy everything - and everyon

Book Blogger Hop #4

It's that time again, for the Book Blogger Hop, hosted by Jennifer at Crazy For Books! It gives bloggers a chance to hop around and find some awesome new blogs to follow! I frequently find new books that I need to read, and it's a great way to make new friends! Click the link above to sign up! =] Where is your favourite place to read? Curled up on the sofa, in bed, in the garden? My answer: My favourite place to read is in the corner of our corner sofa in the living room, when my brother is playing the Xbox, because then, I can block out the sounds of him blowing things up and just get lost in a book. I can't read there though if the TV's on, as I'll just end up watching the programme instead! I also like reading in bed, but sometimes I'll find myself drifting off, so I don't read there very often! Book Review: Firelight - Sophie Jordan

With her rare ability to breathe fire, Jacinda is special even among the draki—the descendants of dragons who can shift between human and dragon forms. But when Jacinda's rebelliousness leads her family to flee into the human world, she struggles to adapt, even as her draki spirit fades. The one thing that revives it is Will, whose family hunts her kind. Jacinda can't resist getting closer to him, even though she knows she's risking not only her life but the draki's most closely guarded secret. - From http://www.sophiejordan.net/ya/news.html Jacinda is a rareness in her pride, a fire-breathing draki. She's fed up of being 'owned' by the pride, and so she rebels, and goes flying in daylight, something which is completely forbidden. When she's almost killed by hunters, Jacinda's crime has led the pride to punish her, in the unimaginable way. So her mother whisks her and her sister away, into the world of humans, where her draki will die, and the fam

Teaser Tuesday #4: Firelight - Sophie Jordan

Book of the Week #4

Every week, I will post a book of the week. I think you should read it. It might be new, it might be really old. It doesn't matter. It will just be a book, that I have read, and think you should read. =] (Sorry it's late this week, I had a busy day yesterday, and didn't get a chance to blog.) This week's Book of the Week is: BY MIDNIGHT Title: By Midnight Author: Mia James Publication Date: July 2010 When I Read It : July 2010 Synopsis: April Dunne is not impressed. She's had to move from Edinburgh to Highgate, London, with her parents. She's left her friends - and her entire life - behind. She has to start at a new school and, worst of all, now she's stuck in a creepy old dump of a house which doesn't even have proper mobile phone reception. Ravenwood, her new school, is a prestigious academy for gifted (financially or academically) students - and the only place her parents could find her a place, in the middle of term, in the middle of L

Book Review: Alpha - Rachel Vincent

"The only thing I knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt - I would live and die for my Pride." Everything is about to change for werecat Faythe when her father is ousted from the council that controls their secret world. And a shocking tragedy jeopardises her future as Alpha of the Pride. Now a rebel on the run, Faythe's biggest fight lies ahead. Old allies from the supernatural world are ready to stand by her side. And weretoms Marc and Jace would give their very souls in the duel for Faythe's heart... Yet as their enemies draw near Faythe knows that she - and she alone - can lead the pride into what may be their final battle. - From the back of the book. Alpha is the last book in the amazing series by Rachel Vincent (*FOR ADULTS*). It is an exception to my usual reading, as when I first started the series, I didn't realise it wasn't YA, and was very surprised. It is most definitely an adult book, and I wouldn't recommend it for anybody younger than 16. An

Book Blogger Hop #3

Welcome to Cheezyfeet Books! Here for the Hop?  The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by   Crazy For Books  so just head over there if you want to be included!! Get hopping everyone! =]  "When you read a book that you just can't get into, do you stick it out and keep reading or move to your next title?" My answer: It depends. If I have a book that I really really want to read, and the book I'm reading is boring me, then I will stop, if I still have a substantial amount of the book left. If the book still hasn't kept me interested after 100 pages, then I will definitely put it down. Sometimes, I feel bad about not finishing the book, so I say I'll read it again at a later date, but I never do. If it's in the middle of a series, I will finish it, and then read the next one, and if that one is still rubbish, I will give up with a series, though I'm much more reluctant to give up with a series than just one book.  Blogs visited so far :  Oktopus Ink That Bo

Now that she's an official member of the Blood Coven, Rayne assumes her vampire-slaying days are over. Book Review: Torment - Lauren Kate

Love never dies... It took Luce an eternity to find her beloved angel, Daniel. But he waited for her. Now they are forced apart again, to protect Luce from the Outcasts - immortals who want her dead. During their separation, Luce learns about her mysterious past lives. But the more she discovers, the more she suspects Daniel is hiding something. What if Daniel's version of the past isn't true?  Is it really their destiny to be together?  Or is Luce actually meant to be with someone else? - From the back of the book. Torment is the second book in the popular Fallen series by Lauren Kate. I didn't enjoy the first book, Fallen, at all, and I was hesitant to buy Torment. But, when Torment's release date drew near, I couldn't help but be really excited to read it. Why this is, I do not know. Maybe it was because I was anticipating it to be better than it's predecessor, and it definitely was. Torment starts almost immediately after Fallen finished. Luce and Da

Book Review: The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games is set in the place once known as North America, in a place called Panem. Panem is made of a Capitol and 12 districts, called District 1, District 2 etc. Katniss Everdeen is from District 12, the poorest and most run-down of all the districts. The story starts, and it feels a lot more like the past than the future. Life is hard, and every year, there is a deadly event, called The Hunger Games. 24 children are chosen to go to the Capitol and fight to the death in the arena. The story starts on Reaping Day, when a boy and girl from each district is chosen to take part in The Hunger Games. It's really obvious that Katniss will end up being the chosen girl, so off she goes to the Capitol. The Capitol is more like the future we would expect. They speak and dress differently there, they can have any colour skin they want, and they act however they see fit. The society there is much like today, yet a lot more advanced. The Hunger Games are brutal. The twenty-four chi

HUSH, HUSH - BECCA FITZPATRICK Title:  Hush, Hush Author:  Becca Fitzpatrick Publication Date:  October 2009 When I Read It:  November 2009 Synopsis:  For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys in her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgement.  But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure who to trust.
