Book Review: The Reckoning - Kelley Armstrong

Chloe Saunders is fifteen and would love to be normal. Unfortunately, Chloe happens to be a genetically engineered necromancer who can raise the dead without even trying. She and her equally gifted (or should that be 'cursed'?) friends are now running for their lives from the evil corporation that created them. 
As if that's not enough, Chloe is struggling with her feelings for Simon, a sweet-tempered sorcerer, and his brother Derek, a now so sweet-tempered werewolf. And she has a horrible feeling she's leaning toward the werewolf...

This book is the best in the trilogy. The plot, the writing, the characters, the setting, - everything about it was just perfect.

Chloe Saunders is definitely one of my favourite heroines. I was genuinely sad when the series ended, and although I realise that it needed to finish there, I was still sad.

The characters grow even more in The Reckoning. It was nice when they all came together and worked as a group to save themselves. Chloe learns a lot more about her powers and how to use them, and this is useful for her. Derek was still my favourite character though, and we get an even better understanding of him, and what he is, does and why.

There is a little bit of romance, though not very much. This is OK though, because though it was only a little, I found that it was enough. Some books go really over the top on romance, and sometimes it ruins it, though this book had a nice amount. As the romance isn't important to the plot, it didn't really matter.

The writing is effortless and quick. There is always something happening, yet you don't get confused as to what is happening and when. The scenes where Chloe uses her powers, and when Derek changes are amazing, and even though it couldn't possibly be real, of course, it feels like it is.

The Reckoning is a really great ending to a really great series, and if you haven't done so already, you should read it!
