Book Review: The Killables by Gemma Malley

Title:  The Killables  Author:  Gemma Malley Series:  The Killables, #1 Pages:  384 Publisher:  Hodder & Stoughton Date of Publication:  29th March 2012 Source:  Publisher Synopsis from Goodreads: Everyone accepted that people were different physically. But inside? Inside, they were different too. You just had to know how to tell, what to look for. Evil has been eradicated. The City has been established. And citizens may only enter after having the 'evil' part of their brain removed. They are labelled on the System according to how 'good' they are. If they show signs of the evil emerging, they are labelled a K . . . But no one knows quite what that means. Only that they disappear, never to be seen again... My Thoughts: I had high hopes for this book. I read the first book in Gemma Malley's other series, The Declaration , back when it was first released, and while I can't remember much about it at all, I do remember really enj...

Book Review: Falling Fast by Sophie McKenzie

Title:  Falling Fast Author:  Sophie McKenzie Series:  Standalone Pages:  247 Publisher:  Simon & Schuster Date of Publication:  1st March 2012 Source:  Publisher* Synopsis from Goodreads: When River auditions for a part in an interschool performance of Romeo and Juliet, she finds herself smitten by Flynn, the boy playing Romeo. But Flynn comes from a damaged family—is he even capable of giving River what she wants? The path of true love never did run smooth ... This is real life, not a rehearsal... My Thoughts: Falling Fast is the third book by Sophie McKenzie that I have read, and while it wasn't my favourite, I did enjoy it. It was a very quick, cute read, perfect for fans of super sweet romances that you can get lost in for a couple of hours (because that's only how long it takes) and then come back into the real world feeling all warm and squishy inside :) River wants to be in love. She wants to find a guy and be perfectl...

Book Review: Wonder by RJ Palacio

Title:  Wonder Author:  RJ Palacio Series:  Pages:  310 Publisher:  Random House Date of Publication:  1st March 2012 Source:  Publisher* Synopsis from Goodreads: I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse. August (Auggie) Pullman was born with a facial deformity that prevented him from going to a mainstream school—until now. He's about to start 5th grade at Beecher Prep, and if you've ever been the new kid then you know how hard that can be. The thing is Auggie's just an ordinary kid, with an extraordinary face. But can he convince his new classmates that he's just like them, despite appearances? R. J. Palacio has written a spare, warm, uplifting story that will have readers laughing one minute and wiping away tears the next. With wonderfully realistic family interactions (flawed, but loving), lively school scenes, and short chapters, Wonder is accessible to readers of all levels. My Thoughts: ...

Title: Bloody Valentine Author: Melissa de la Cruz Series: Blue Bloods (A Novella) Pages: 208 Publisher: ATOM (UK)/ Disney Book Grou Date of UK Publication: 20th January 2011 Source: Bought Synopsis from Goodreads: Vampires have powers beyond human comprehension: strength that defies logic, speed that cannot be captured on film, the ability to shapeshift and more. In Bloody Valentine, bestselling author Melissa de la Cruz offers readers a new story about the love lives of their favorite vamps - the passion and heartache, the hope and devastation, the lust and longing. Combined with all the glitz, glamour, and mystery fans have come to expect, this is sure to be another huge hit in the Blue Bloods series. Book Review: Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld

Title: Leviathan Author: Scott Westerfeld Series: Leviathan #1 Pages: 434 Date of UK Publications: 1st October 2009 Source: Library Synopsis from Goodreads: Prince Aleksander, would-be heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, is on the run. My Thoughts: I read the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld a few years ago, and I loved it, so when I heard about Leviathan I was super excited, but I couldn't afford a shiny hardback at the time, and so I forgot about it. (Sorry! :L) So, when I went to the library ...

Book Review: Fallen - Lauren Kate

Some angels are destined to fall. Instant. Intense. Weirdly familiar... The moment Luce looks at Daniel she knows she has never felt life this before. Except she can't shake the feeling that she has ...  and with him - a boy she doesn't remember ever setting eyes on.  Will her attempt to find out why enlighten her - or destroy her? - From the back of the book. Fallen is the first book in a series by Lauren Kate. Everyone is going on and on about how it's really amazing. But, I have to say, I didn't like it. I don't know why this is, maybe because I couldn't get into it, or because I couldn't be bothered to read it at the time, I don't know. I just didn't like it. Luce Price, the main character, is very annoying. She comes across as stupid, yet apparently she's super smart, according to her grades. She stalks people, and is in a reform school. This reform school, is very laid back. There is very little security, and though I've neve...

Hanover Falls hasn't had a werewolf problem in over one hundred years, but when people start dying in Claire Benoit's town, panic spreads fast. The gruesome killings are all anyone can talk about at Claire's sixteenth birthday party, though the only thing on Claire's mind is gorgeous Matthew Engle chatting and flirting with her as if she's the only girl there. Book Review: Wake - Lisa McMann

Janie falls into peoples dreams. Whenever she gets too close to a sleeping person, she gets sucked into dreams and there is nothing she can, no matter how hard she tries. There are the falling dreams, and the being naked in front of lots of people dreams, but then there are also other dreams. Nightmares. Now Janie is outside, behind a shed. In somebody’s dream. She is alone. She doesn’t quite understand how she can be alone in someone else’s dream, but there she is and there is absolutely nothing she can do. She just hopes that something isn’t going to jump out of the wall or from behind a bush or something… This book wasn’t great. It was short. Was written oddly. I’m still not quite sure if I liked it or not. People say that it’s a marmite book, you love it or you hate it, but I don’t know which. If the book had taken more time to explain what on earth was going on, it may have been better, but things weren’t explained and I found myself confused as to what was going on. When I...
