Book Review: Outside In by Maria V. Snyder

Outside In (Inside Out, #2)Title: Outside In
Author: Maria V. Snyder
Series: Inside Out #2
Pages: 328
Date of UK Publications: 18th March 2011
Source: NetGalley
Synopsis from Goodreads: Me? A Leader? Okay, I did prove that there's more to Inside than we knew. That a whole world exists beyond this cube we live in. And finding that led to a major rebellion - between worker scrubs like me and the snobby uppers who rule our world. Make that ruled. Because of me, we're free. I thought that meant I was off the hook, and could go off on my own again - while still touching base with Riley, of course. He's the one upper I think I can trust. But then we learned that there's outside and then there is Outside. And something from Outside wants In.

My Thoughts:
Outside In is the second book in the Inside Out series by Maria V. Snyder. I absolutely loved Inside Out, it was awesome. And, I didn't think it was possible, but Outside In was even better.

Outside In begins with a recap of everything that happened in the previous book. It was awesome, as sometimes I know that I'll be reading a sequel and I'll have forgotten what happened at the end of the last book. So, it reminded me, and, had I not read the first one, I would still have understood what was going on. Inside is still written in the amazingly detailed way as it was in the first book, and once I started reading, once again I was sucked into Trella's world and couldn't stop reading about her new adventure.

Trella is still the same determined, stubborn and loveable character that she always been. Now that she has imprisoned all the Travas that were badly running Inside, she thought that Inside was safe and free, with scrubs and uppers mingling and becoming equal, rather than having a hierarchy. But there's more work to be done, as the scrubs and uppers are still divided and complaining that their world is worse. And, to really make it worse, it seems there is something on the Outside who want to take over Inside. Trella will do everything she can to save Inside, whatever it takes.

The plot is very good. There were twists and turns the whole way through, and I very rarely saw any of them coming. The book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading, and when I wasn't I was thinking about what was going to happen next and how Trella was going to get out of the many tricky situations that she kept finding herself in.

I really love this series. I'm not sure if there will be another one, but by the ending I'm thinking there won't be, but if there is, I'll be sure to read it as soon as I possibly can. The Inside Out series is one that I think fans of YA or dystopian novels should definitely read, and I can assure you that it is not one to miss.

My Rating:
I give it 5 Feet!

  1. Great review! I Looooved this book too! I was sad to hear that it's likely going to be the last one due to sales not being so good. Upset because I really did want to see and learn more of Trella and her world.

Book Blogger Hop #4

It's that time again, for the Book Blogger Hop, hosted by Jennifer at Crazy For Books! It gives bloggers a chance to hop around and find some awesome new blogs to follow! I frequently find new books that I need to read, and it's a great way to make new friends! Click the link above to sign up! =] Where is your favourite place to read? Curled up on the sofa, in bed, in the garden? My answer: My favourite place to read is in the corner of our corner sofa in the living room, when my brother is playing the Xbox, because then, I can block out the sounds of him blowing things up and just get lost in a book. I can't read there though if the TV's on, as I'll just end up watching the programme instead! I also like reading in bed, but sometimes I'll find myself drifting off, so I don't read there very often!
